This article examines the impact of the Cittaslow (calm city) concept on economic development. In this research, after the Ordu Perşembe district became Cittaslow, the progress in the economy was investigated by ethnographic methods. As the target audience, 22 participants who lived or visited Perşembe, were interviewed. Besides, social media sources have also been consulted. Cittaslow adoption failed to contribute to Perşembe’s economy. People continued to migrate to city life to find jobs. As before, it remained as a place visited mostly in summer. There was also no significant increase in tourists in summer. A public project such as Cittaslow, which aims to protect the natural beauty and the environment, needs economic contribution to survive in the long term. After the project ended, the public did not embrace it when it could not provide economic enrichment. During the development phase of the Cittaslow project, economic objectives and their places in the project implementation had to be determined, and their promotion had to be made.
Sakin Şehir (Cittaslow) Konseptinin Ekonomiye Katkısı: Perşembe (Ordu) İncelemesi
Bu makale, sakin şehir kavramını ekonomik kalkınmaya etkisini incelemektedir. Bu araştırmada Ordu Perşembe ilçesinin sakin şehir olmasından sonra ekonomisindeki ilerlemeyi etnografik yöntemlerle araştırılmıştır. Hedef kitle olarak Perşembe’de yaşamış ya da Perşembe’yi ziyaret eden 22 katılımcı ile görüşülmüştür. Ayrıca sosyal medya ki kaynaklara da başvurulmuştur. Sakin şehir oluşunun kabul edilişi Perşembe ekonomisine katkı sağlayamamıştır. İnsanlar iş bulmak için şehirlere göç etmeye devam etmişlerdir. Eskisi gibi daha çok yazın gelinen bir mekân olarak kalmıştır. Yazları da kayda değer bir turist artışı da sağlanamamıştır. Sakin şehir gibi doğal güzellikleri ve çevreyi korumaya yönelik kamusal projenin uzun dönemde yaşayabilmesi için ekonomik katkı sağlamasına ihtiyacı vardır. Proje bittikten sonra ekonomik zenginleşme sağlayamayınca halk sahiplenmemiştir. Sakin şehir projesi geliştirme aşamasında ekonomik amaçlar belirlenmiş, projede uygulamasında yerlerini almış ve tanıtımlarının yapılmış olmalıydı.
